The Birth of Gin Cocktails
You’ve heard of the Martini but do you know it’s predecessor the Martinez? The word cocktail was first coined in 1806 and Gin was there to kick off the craze with an expanse of recipes that developed over the next 200 years. Join the West Winds Gin National Brand Ambassador Brendan Scott Grey as he takes you on a journey of flavour and aroma from the earliest of cocktail recipes from the 19th and 20th century utilising traditional liqueurs, syrups and bitters that will surprise your taste buds and kick start your love for the classic drinks of socialites and debutants. Guests will sample 6 traditional gin cocktails and then craft their very own creation utilising flavours from the previous centuries. Light snacks and a West Winds gin and tonic on arrival.

The kitchen is a different setting but can be just as versatile when creating cocktails so we’ve set up a selection of easy recipes to make and entertain with at home. Brendan will show you how to utilise simple house hold ingredients like vinegar, baking soda, lemon peel, tea leaves and even week-old wine to make delicious drinks for you and your friends. Light snacks and a West Winds gin and tonic supplied on arrival.
